Young Scientist Programme 2020 – ISRO – YUVIKA
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has launched his second session of the Young Scientist Programme” “YUva VIgyani KAryakram” is scheduled to be held during the month of May 2020.
The Program is primarily directed at imparting basic knowledge on Space Technology, Space Science and Space Programs to the younger ones with the intention of sparking their interest in the emerging regions of Space actions. The program is aimed at creating awareness amongst the youngsters that are the Nation’s building blocks. ISRO has chalked this programme out to”Catch them young”.
The program will be of 2 weeks period during summer holidays (May 11-22, 2020) and the program will include invited talks, experience sharing with the distinguished scientists, centre and laboratory visits, exclusive sessions for discussions with experts, practical and opinions sessions.
3 students each from each State/ Union Territory will be chosen to participate in this programme covering CBSE, ICSE and State syllabus. 5 seats are booked for OCI applicants across the nation.
The choice will be achieved through online registration. The online enrollment will be available from February 03 2020, to 24. Those people who have finished 8th regular and now studying in 9th benchmark (in the academic year 2019-20) will soon be eligible for the programme. Students that are studying in India such as OCI (National Citizen of India) are all eligible for the programme. The selection is based on extracurricular pursuits and the 8th Regular academic performance. The selection criteria is given below.
Students belong to the rural area have been granted specific weightage in the selection criteria. In case there is connection between the selected candidates, the younger applicants will receive priority.
The curious students may register online via ISRO website www.isro.gov.in in February 03, 2020 (1400 hrs) to 24 February 2020 (1800 hrs). The link will soon be available on 03 February. The list of the selected candidates from every state will be announced on 02 March. Even the selected candidates will be requested to upload the attested copies of the certificates that are relevant on or before 23 March, 2020. That the last selection list will be printed on 30 March after affirming the certificates that are relevant.
It’s proposed to run the residential programme during 11-22 May, 2020, in 4 centres of ISRO. The students will be asked to report to some of the ISRO/DOS centres located at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Shillong and Thiruvananthapuram. The students will be accommodated at ISRO guest houses/hostels. Expenditure towards the journey of pupil (II AC fare by railway from nearest Rly Station into the reporting centre and back), class material, accommodation and boarding etc., during the entire course is going to be borne by ISRO. II AC fare will be supplied to one guardian/parent for fall and pick up of pupil.
