The development in human body passes through many stages which are orderly interlinked. Features of each stage differ from one stage to another. All of these factors collectively make base for human personality.

Growth: The growth is quantitative improvement which means the increase in the number of cells. It has no concern with the learning of the person.

Maturation: When genetic physical capacities of the organism are unfolded it is called the maturation. for example a bud changing into a full grown flower. It brings out full potential of an individual.

Development: According to Hurlock (1964), development is a progressive series of orderly, coherent changes leading towards the goal of maturity. Development is the quantitative changes in the direction of maturity which is a combination of maturation and Development happens in a pattern and it can be predicted.
