The government might have relaxed lockdown athletes and rules have slowly started individual’outside training. But the contracted Indian cricketers are awaiting the go-ahead from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) before they hit the ground running.
A participant said that while the cricketers are currently looking to begin their training, they’ll do the exact same only. For now, the players have been after the fitness regimen that was customised given to them by physio Nitin Patel and coach Nick Webb.
“We’re being extremely careful. We expect the support team of our team and we’re currently working out according to their advice. They’ll let us know and we’ll stick to the protocols when it’s the time for us to alter the procedure. The key is to be patient in these instances once the elements that have driven this shift upon us aren’t in our hands,” the participant pointed.
Cricket events have been seen by the coronavirus pandemic and that the Sri Lanka board announced the limited-overs show they were eager to host in June against India had to be called off with an eye on the pandemic.
Batsman Shreyas Iyer had said: “Yes, we’ll require a couple of net sessions for sure for back the timing (as a batsman) and to have the muscle memory functioning. We’ll be holding the bat after some time additionally to have players standing around as you confront bowlers bowling at 140kph, it won’t be easy to return into that zone and it’ll need a couple of training sessions as also the psychological memory to settle down entirely.

While a couple of cricketers (largely the non-contracted ones) have been seen training outside throughout the last week, there’s been no official go-ahead for the same in the BCCI.
